Product handling is one of the most common applications in packaging lines. The need to rotate products in all axes is a frequent challenge for many companies, but can be easily addressed with specific devices.

Often, the configuration of the product exiting the upstream machine differs from that required by the downstream machine. In these cases, a product handling device is essential to rotate the product, avoiding inefficiencies or continuous interruptions. Another common scenario occurs when labelling or marking is required on a different side of the product than the side with which it exits the packaging machine. Therefore, product rotation is required prior to this process to ensure that the labelling or marking is done correctly.

It is essential to start with a detailed analysis of the specific requirements imposed by the line, the weight of the packaged product, the pack size and the speed of the packaging line.

Last but not least are the axis and direction of rotation of the product. To avoid confusion, we use terminology inherited from the nautical world: we speak of ROLL to identify rotation along the axis of motion, Yaw for those along the vertical axis and finally Pitch for the axis transverse to the motion.
